My daughter is in 9th grade CBSE. She is a bright kid but always got 2nd rank by losing a half mark here and one mark there.

She also kept on telling us that every other kid is having at least one guide for each subject. We have purchased the learn next software up on advise from your forum. We recently bought a set of guides for her.

The question here is, is it alright to study with the help of guides? I and my wife belong to old school of thought where in we believe it is always better master your text book and have a strong base on fundamentals so no question / problem is hard to solve. The daughter is showing many questions from her recent exams are exact copies found in guides.

Can you please advise by taking a little of your valuable time whether we can allow her or stop reading guides?

No Doubt, the guides limit our study to examinations and It is much difficult to make a fundamental understanding of the concepts. That's why I recommended LearnNext Software for your daughter.

Writing what the teacher wants, is different from understanding the concepts. Many times the child know much more than whatever asked through a particular question. To fetch good marks, not only the understanding of concepts but also the skill to write them is needed. Guides help the kids to master the skill of writing exactly what is asked in a presentable format.

I think let her use guides but make her understand the concepts first through text books, reference books and LearnNext Software.

No problem Mr. Panday
Let u r daughter ref. guides. She gets max information through them. At the same time She should not forget the fact that class room learning is the best way of learning because interaction plays vital roll.Don't give her more preasure. Create pleasant environment to learn. May god bless her.

Sir, i understand your concern, but I think reading a guide and getting information will be ok, as long as the child is able to find out if any mistakes are there or anybody to point out that. The student should have all the concepts ciear and then if the guide is broused , something beneficial may be got.

guides are useful for gaining knowleadge but the best thing is to acquire the logic that the has to acqiure themselves. the rest depends on you.
