Can a candidate opt ENG,BIO,PHY,CHEM and MATH (5 subjects)for XII Exam2009? Math in place of Information Practices.

Yes, you can take maths in place of IP with other subjects stated by you.
But again it depends on the concerned school authorities. They may or may not provide such combination due to administrative reasons. sometimes IP is preferred by the schools b'coz students get more marks and the overall school result goes up.
Both maths and bio need special concentration and it is much difficult to manage both of them. Usually students might have make up their mind to go for Medical or Non-medical stream so Non-medical students don't take Bio, they only need PCM and prefer IP where they can get good marks without any special attention. On the other hand, medical students don't take maths as they only need PCB and the also prefer IP in place of maths to score high.
