Please spare some time to read this short mail of mine.Through this mail I wish to present my humble plead towards new grading system of cbse.

As per recent news,it is being said that marks are totally being eliminated & only grades are bring put to use.please if possible try to reduce the range of marks for allocated grades.
For example;

95%-100%=A+ instead of regular 90%-100%=A+
< so and 80%-89%="A" regular instead of of="A">

grading system is not a good idea at all as it keeps no difference between 'excellent' and 'outstanding' students as a student who scores 90% has equivalent value to a student scoring 99% or 100%Please try to notify my opinion.

This is in regard with your changing of marks scheme to grading scheme i want to make it in your notice that we student of class 10th of happy school disagree with all this because s this lead to failure of competitiveness.

The students who want to gain 100 marks would try to 91 because 100 or 90 does not make any difference the both would get A.it should not be applied at all because a student who want to achieve in life and want to get a career with merit would disagree with this always.

I know you want to cut down the number of suicide occurred in past 3 year but this is not the way i scored 80% without tuition in my 9th so that i could perform better in 10th.

So i suggest you to kindly think over it again and be fair to all.at last marking system is far more better than grading system.so kindly it be as it is and have counseling class for below average so they would not commit suicide and the studious student would get a chance to get their talent to be praised and known.

hi....!!!!i m aayushman sahni studyin in class 12th(commerce).my views on the grading system upto class 12th r positive n i strongly pose it....bcoz it reduces the possibility of sucides takin place in our country due to bad marks tht the students get.....so if this system is applicaple than these cases wud nt cum up.....!!!!!moreover parents, students both will b happy.....bt with the grades the marks shud also be given......so tht students get admissions in colleges easily...!!!!!
thanking you,

yours faithfully

HII GUYS

THIS IS SINDHU STUDYIN IN CLASS 12

i strongly OPPOSE this grading system as it is only going to depress the students rather than encouaraging them.........

yaaa i agree that you want to do something good for the weaker ones but this is not the only way......
if this is the case u can try to reduce the pass percentage of students..
so that students might atleast passs..........

i scored 85.4 %in my tenth

but my friend who got 85.8% is considered more studious bcoz she scored 2 marks more than me

if it is i the form of grading system where is this sydtem goin to be
how will the students compete

it is meaningless to hav this system accordin to my opinion

ok if this is the case only possible then provide thae marks also along with the grades

We also feel that marking system is good for 9th std. This will differentiate between 90 % and 99 / 100 % scoring students. Also if students have grading system until 11th std and suddenly have marking system from 12th std, they will be under pressure. Our opinion is marking system is required, but however board exam is not required for 10th std.

hi am a student of class xi and have just passed my boards of x.I have heard the news of grading system for x.I really oppose this idea.first of all grading system wouldn't diffretiate between the higher scoring students and lower scoring students. As it say 80 to 89 A grade so if a person scores 80 he gets A and if the person scores 86 also gets A then how would we know our percentage and its a total weird opinion.and our parents and we have written boards y not next genration.succes come from hardwork.this is lyk spoon feeding. They will not be prepared for xii boards.i think the boards is nesccary especially in x as it increase our confidence and experiance for xii.i hope the people making it understand boards are neccesary. The true talent and ability of a person will not come out a person might scor 99% and another 95% and both are given A+ so we will not differentiate.th real talent like this wold be hidden.well grading will be good but wont make any sense and will not diffrentitae.

The concept of grading system is a very good idea proposed by Mr.Kapil Sibbal. It has been introduced in many countries, its high time we rejuvenate our education system and be more open to new ideas. As a teacher i can say that this system would surly benefit students. If we want to educate India, basic education must be free from the evil of too much competition as it has commercialised education.

I am graduate from I I T Kharagpur ( 1985 )and MBA (1987).

1. First of all, I do not like the school timinig of 0730 to 1430 hrs. The child hardly finds any time for Yoga, or Physical Exercise in the morning. The first meal of the child which should be good meal is missed. These factors are certainly detereorating the child's present and future health.

2. The children should not be taught more than 4 subjects limited to 4 hrs with a break of 5 to 10 mintues after 45 minutes of a class. This will ensure that whatever the child studies at school, he studies with full concentration. The will assure that he has reasonably good time for self study, playing games and other extracullicular activities.

3. I remember my school days we spent 4 to 5 hrs only in school and lot of time outside school for the activities of own choice may be self study, extra curricuular activities. In present system of study the child is centered around only towards school study, coplaint from teachers to their parents which discourages him and finally he leaves caring for his teachers. The respect to teachers by students and devotion by teachers towards students is not seen now a days.

4. The school must attempt to teach in depth.

5. It is my opinion, the school has become an agency to conduct the examination only. The parents are themselves sitting with children to teach them or taking the help of coaching institutions.

6. At least now the parents have the options of choosing between State Board Schools or CBSE or ICSE. Imagine when a wrong and unwanted thing will be imposed on the parents against their desire.

7. The Govt should focus on improving the standard and quality of teaching rather than on evaluation system.

8. One Nation-One Board formula is applicable provided we are really one in languages, facilities to all children. A Student with 80 % marks in the State Board Exam gets through competition like I I T with ranks within top 500. But students getting 95-99 % in CBSE do not get through this. Would you be happy with the 95% marks in the CBSE or a selection in I I T with 80 % marks in the State Board Exam. The Govt should make study on these cases and try to improve the standard and quality of education at cheaper cost to parents, with less time required by students in the schools allowing students to develop themselves in others dimensions of activities.

9. The Govt. should also ensure that every school must be equipped with good library which has at 30 % as many books as the no of students it has in each class.

10. Causes os stress leading to sucides etc. were less earlier. Now-a-days the children are hardly finding time for yoga, phisically activities to keep themselves equiped to coup up with stress.

My views (can you post it in forum):

ONE NATION - ONE BOARD is a very laudable idea.

But also:

ONE NATION - ONE SYLLABUS can be a first step.

Since I studied SSLC in 1960, it is the same situation on this issue of
syllabus.

The CBSE board syllabus should be language independent.

Let each child's parents decide:
a. in what language it wants to learn Mathematics and all other subjects.
b. what other languages it should learn.

That is democracy.

It is well known that:

1. Child learns better in its own mother tongue only (Gandhiji also said the
same thing).

2. English has better job prospects. English is an Indian language now;
Colonialism is a thing of the past. Even in China and Japan, they teach
their children English. In the European Union, it is English plus German/
French etc. So, it should be taught as a language to all children in India
too at the "parents' option". Otherwise the child will know only mother
tongue; that is fine if that is all what they want. That is democracy.

After the truths in 1 and 2 above are accepted, there will be good progress
in the minister's suggestions.

It may be very difficult to get agreement by all states until the language
issues are also decided.

Regards
Prof K S Ramachandran

Sir,
I guess implementation of grading system will definitely decrease the stress on student regarding scores. It will reduce competition but on the other hand it will increase the number of student who will get good job opportunities as currently a child getting 97% marks will be given more preference in relative to one getting 90%. But after the implementation of grading system both will have A+ as their score and so both of them will be given equal preference and thus on the basis of interview a positive result will be out. Whereas currently a good score is what matters and not the creativity and other skills that too are equally important.

Also,
Student getting A+ will be treated studious and good ( in equal terms not like one is better and the other is best ) thus the number of good student would increase and so various options that are currently eligibe for those getting above 95% marks would also be aligible for ones getting above 90% i.e ones getting A+. So, this way a larger number of student would be stress free and would be enjoying the opprtunities which they currently can't dream of.

And competition currently is touching great heights so it has to be reduced and there's nothing bad in that because earlier when the competition was less then too the student were prospering as they are today. And even if there's a need to increase the competition then the board community can put up difficult questions in the exam papers and as required even harder ones can be put, this way less student will get A+ and thus increasing the competition. But atleast that time the competition could be controlled by the board community as required unlike today, where it is increasing every year and has reached so great heights that the student are even comitting suicide. Just for increasing competition we cannot let student commit suicide....

So you see its good if the grading system gets implemented.
And Yes, I Am Totally in favour of this new grading system that is in thought of being implemented.

The Other Query,
I think that board exam in Xth shouldn't be made optional but its preference shoud be less then that of board exams Of class XIIth. I have seen various organisations that only demands for class Xth marksheet and not XIIth. It should be like Xth board Exam should just be a kind of rehearsal ( like pre-boards ) for the Exams of class XIIth. This way the student would get the idea of how the board exams are and how should they be faced because in pre-boards we just give exams in our own school and the papers too are checked by the school teachers only so its almost of no use to us.

So i feel that Xth board should remain compulsory but its importance should be reduced whereas XIIth board should be given the highest preference and its importance should be the most.

ya i completely agree with ya. people consider a person who scores 98 better than 97 but really we students know theres no difference at all.and small mistakes for the unlucky guy could cost him his true pride.and the mark system creates too much of a hierarchy.well, i have got a suggestion.. let the grade system be more elaborate i mean to say to include more grades.i know this brings the grade system closer to the mark system but theres one think we have to keep in mind.suppose a+ stands for 90 to 99 so a 90 person and 99 person will be looked at as the same.its really complex i know ,all i hope is that the decision really does some justice to us students!!

hi nitya here, i just want to say that in the grading system students are identified to which range they come and inbetweens are never mentioned. To put it across there might not be a change of difference to a student who has scored say 85.5% or 85.7%.the grading system will remove this sort of small differences and the student will not be forced to be compared with another student and get an advantage over another student in getting admissions to a prefered institution nor the teacher will be biased in their attitude. Most important it will try to weed out the abuse melted on students who are slow in expressing their thoughts in front of a group.Teachers now will have to be extra careful in grading and cannot be partial at all.Hope the grading system comes to stay. All the best

I'm a student of 11th science. I've just passed out tenth.I heard the newz regarding grading system & optional tenth.
well I thnk these both ideas are totaly flop.
grading sysytem will put down all the competition. It will make the weak students more weak insted of improoving them. moreover this wud nt diffentiate between the excellent & outstanding.
It just like what we call in hindi gadhe ghode ek barabar.
My % was 86.4 & I'm treted leeser than my friend who has scored just 2 marks more than me. & its fair enough as she had studied more seriously than me.
moreover by optionizing tenth board wont be beneficial either. uptil 10th we clear our basics. & boards judge our position at natioal level.
so I thnk these reforms wud help students

according to me the the 10th class examination should be compulsory for all as a Board Examination. Let children learn to face certain tensions in life; for life ahead is not going to be free of all tensions. Parents and teachers should be educated to keep the tension level at the optimum level.

Writing examination is an art. Let them - the sudents - get used to it.

Thoroughness of study will be more if the students are trained to take a board examination.

Thank you very much

This is in continuation of my previous letter.

As far as ONE NATION - ONE BOARD is concerned, it is high time that we have that impemented. High variation of marks and high variation of of standard is happening. that is on the positive side.

On the negative side, One Board for the nation may stifle creativity and variety. WE NEED TO DEBATE THIS A LOT MORE

Dear concerned authorities,
it is my humble request that you please do not implement the grading system in Cbse classes 10 to 12.
I completely understand that you must be trying to implement the grading system just to decline the competition in the educational field. But, according to me, this is a really hopeless 'and senselessidea since this wil;l not decrease the competition but infact instill in the students a feeling of " i got a high grade" which will rather make them feel that since i got a good grade, it is now necessary for me to work hard in this particular subject.
Moreover this grading system will hide the differnce between a "good" and an "extrordinary" student.
as a student of class 10 , it is my personal view that neither the board exams should be made optional nor a grading system should be alloted in schools.

Hii I am Gaurav. I think the new pattern of grading system & making the 10th standard boards exams optional is not a good thing to do. It will reduce the spirit of competition among the students as the student scoring 90.2% marks will be given the same grade with the student scoring 97%. So it also cannot separate the BEST from the REST. & yeah making the exams optional is also not the right step because the careless students who study only because of the boards pressure will obviously try to skip it. And as far as the Suicide cases are concerned some other steps can also be taken to tackle this problem.

The move to imply grading system is definitely a bane as it leaves a vacuum hard to be filled in the age of global competition. It is like you are removing a weight from the head of a student and putting a another weight on him.The students will face much more stress in the senior secondary exams. Also the grading g will produce lakhs of directionless youths who will not be able to know their competencies. While there is so much pressure on one side, grafting system should not be implied. It is a standard that every child must clear.if grading system is implied students will not be mentally equipped to face universities exams and later the pressure on the job.Hence.the move to imply such a system is may be proved not to remove the stress but just postponing it.
