A latter issued by C. GURUMURTHY, DIRECTOR (ACAD.) to the heads of all CBSE affiliated schools is being posted here for the reference of Social Science Teachers.
The Board considers it important to draw your attention, to a reference made in class VIII NCERT textbook Modern India, Social Science, part 1 p.182 that reads.
“……..The most prominent among these new leaders were Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Bipin Chandra Pal, Lala Lajpat Rai and Aurobindo Gosh. They came to be known as “extremists”…….”
The schools which prescribe the NCERT text books in class VIII, are advised to neither transact the sentence “They came to be known as extremists” in the said passage nor examine the students under this portion. Those schools not prescribing NCERT text books are also advised to review their text books for such objectionable portions and follow the same advice.
This is for strict compliance by all concerned.
