A doubt regarding right hand thump rule

I have a doubt regarding right hand thump rule.
Will there be any change in the direction of magnetic field if we position our hand in different ways?
That is does it have any relation to North , South, East West directions?
To make it clear suppose the thumb point towards South the magnetic field will be from West to East or is it from east to West ?
This is because the finger position will change if we hold our hand upwards or downwards.
Please clarify.

you should understand only one thing regarding right hand thumb rule i.e if you are putting your thumb upwards then the direction of magnetic feild will be clockwise & if you placing your thumb downwards then the direction of magnetic feild will be anti clockwise.otherwise there is no change as such.
